I am looking to buy or make a Lucite handle cover to keep it from getting sun damage. Maybe a Velcro attachment. Anybody do this also? ![]()

I picked up a homemade one at a swap meet in Elkhart. If you can find the stock you can use a heat gun to soften it to where it’s malleable. While you are at it replace the bulbs it the chrome mounts. Billy & Helen Thibodeaux Retired from Billy Thibodeaux's Premiere RV, Inc. Scott, LA 70583 I-10 Exit 97-Our Son now owns it! I made multiple handles. Gave my extra away. I think that is where BillyT got his! I think he bought it on our fundraiser auction for Barthmobile.com. Reading your post I think you are looking for a cover? Interesting idea. Only problem I see is retaining moisture. Hiding the beauty also. If someone grabs it could come loose unexpectedly. I have never seen anyone cover theirs. Maybe no one has ever thought of it. Might be the million dollar idea! Of course after I gave away my extra handles away My 72 broke in half. I just drilled in from both broken ends and joined them with redi rod and epoxy. 72 is my deer camp so it’s just fine. I have a blue LED in Midnight as I did have in DBarth. I have amber LED in Camp Barth. Don’t know if you’ll find this helpful but I thought I’d share. Good job on sizing your picture to the correct size for the site. May I suggest a retractable Sunbrella cover. Their tv commercials feature a very attractive homeowner spotlighting their remote. You may be on to something. '92 Breakaway Cummins 190hp, No Modifications Allison AT542 Floor Plan 30-BS-11B 9205-3798-30BS11B

Hello All, I haven't posted for awhile. Other helpful members have contributed what I believe to be good solutions for other questions posed, so no need to be redundant. But regarding the entry handle cover inquiry, I have a few divergent thoughts. Let me stress that I am not a plastics engineer, however, in our sign business we have used clear Lucite sign faces 3/16"- 1/4" thick for back-lit signs & have found it to be extremely resistant to UV degradation(this exposure is in PA not FL). Therefore, I'm wondering how many years it would take for the handle to degrade? Moreover, even if it does degrade, does that actually ruin the overall aesthetics? For example, our 1993 Breakaway looks like new inside, outside, underneath, & on top(2,000 hrs. of hard work & a basket full of dollars can make that happen). However, the one component which we didn't change, was the thirty year old sun damaged handle. We thought the minute flaws & mini cracks gave it a very unique texture & looked especially cool when the lights were turned on. Additionally, over the last five years we have had hundreds of people inspect, inquire, & some even tour our Breakaway. I don't recall a single one specifically commenting either pro or con about the handle. If you do decide you want to cover the handle, you may want to consider another sign & graphics product & that would be 3M controltac wrapping vinyl, available in clear, I believe. On UTube there are lots of videos of people using controltac to wrap all types of objects. Controltac has egres channels & will conform to compound curves with a little heat & stretching which make application easier. Many sign shops in your area especially those who print, may have this product & would be willing to sell you a small piece, or possibly apply it, should you desire to pursue this. The ultimate solution & one I am so grateful for, is to park your Barth in a garage. Forty years ago, my wife & I put up a 1500 sqft. building, insulated 14'x 14' garage door, & heated, & we sweated nickels for twenty years to pay for it but it was worth the sacrifice. Over the years other members have documented their struggles to work on their beloved Barths outside through cold, hot, rain, & snow & my heart & admiration go out to them. Good Luck to all, John
