The USPS came thru with flying colors today. We had ordered 50 baby chicks and every one was healty and hungry when the Post Office called for us to pick them up. These are all pullets and we will use them for eggs only. NO BBQed chicken I have been told. We have 6 different breeds but they are all brown egg layers because that is what sells best. Oakley is in love with them and won't leave their side. It's a good thing he isn't a vicious dog.   W4JDZ | ||

I think the slang name is Easter Eggers.No, I never had any. Most of these will be sold. We have a large amount spoken for. I will be getting another lot in a couple of months. My last 2 chickens from the last batch were attacked this week and are in pretty bad shape. I know it was the next door neighbors Golden Retrievers, but they won't own up to it. This year I will be keeping at least one rooster to help the hens survive. We are going to watch for the biggest, baddest rooster and keep him. The rest of the roosters will join us for a Bar-B-Que. Araucanas are the "easter eggers", the egg colors are pale blue, green and reddish. How about an electric fence (like for cattle) on dog nose level?
