Thank you to our small group of "Basement Dwellers" who has helped me with testing out new apps...

Anytime something new is tried out, that group gets to play with it first. The Alpha testing and critiquing is done down below. Teaser: We will have... some new things to try out soon enough.
I am pleased to announce a new feature on our site...

"Driving Directions" is now open for "Beta Testing". We have been playing with this map and I would like to know how this works on different browsers. It resides in the Category known as "On The Road".

If you have a problem, tell me in the forums or PM me. I am still working out the bugs on "Printing" but need to know if what I am doing is a waste of time... If I have to adjust the "Driving Directions" to work, then what I am doing with printing will not work.

Thank you for your support help and thoughts.

Ps. More to come...

I have added another map to our site today.

The Barth Rallies Forum now has a map and info screen to upcoming events. Check out Barth Rallies and Get Togethers for more info.

I put in "start" balloon as Austin, Texas and "destination" balloon as Yellowstone Nat. Park and got a "Code 604: unable to give directions". The intermediate points appeared to be 3 evenly-spaced balloons in a direct line between start and destination, although no decent highways follow that line.

I tried it with my address in Canada as a start and Myrtle Beach as the destination.
It gave me basically the same route as Streets and TRips did.

Works well!

That's odd - I just did it too and it worked fine - Give it another shot Gunner, maybe the server was busy at Google.

Yes, those are stopping points. If you do not touch them, they do nothing.

Let's say your trip included a stop in 2 places, pick one of the balloons closest from the start point and place it on the area you want to visit first.

Place the next balloon on the second stopping point. Those balloons allow for layovers on your trip.

You can use the slider bar on the left to zoom in and place the pins exactly where you want to stop.

If you click the hybrid tab and zoom in close, in some cities, you can count the shingles on the top of houses and place the pins in driveways.

All of the pins can be adjusted to place yourself right were you want to be. Play with it a little and let me know what you think.

The routing worked for me, but I usually use DeLorme's Street Atlas or Topo for routing with the GPS.

If you're going on that trip, you'll be about a mile from my house when you go down the Thruway - I'd love to look at your Barth and say hi. Smiler

We are planning that trip for early June. We will be followed by our friends in their RV. We may not stop on that trip, but we go down that Highway a couple times a year.

More of a Get together. Suzy and I are going with the Euro and another couple,[sob'ers], and hopefully Rusty and some more Barth folks can make it. All very informal, with nothing planned beyond a nice relaxing weekend. If we get some food ideas together so much the better, but as of now it's pretty much every Barth for himself. Hope to see you there, even if it's just a day trip for you. We'll be in 41 and 43. Here's the original thread.

The picture below is from the December GTG near Tampa. Suzy, Rusty, and Deb are greeting the morning. Rusty's Breakaway just shows on the left, and Deb & Ed's big DP is in the background.

This is the year, I promise, we will try to get members meeting up with each other.

Who doesn't want to see another members Barth?

I have made a new map in the "Barth Rallies and Get Togethers" forum. This map is to list upcoming Rallies, GTG's and the "Weekend Campout".

There are 2 buttons. One is for the formal Rallies and GTG's, the other button is to list your weekend or extended trip plans.

If, fellow member, Oliver can fly in from the UK, buy a Barth, drive it cross country and accidently meet a Barth in a parking lot in South Dakota - we can surely have a better chance seeing another member if we list where we'll be.

Consider listing your trip. Your campout may prompt another member to book a site or stop by for a snack. Before long, it could turn into an annual GTG or Rally.

This is it, the last map we've been testing.

Map The Barths Forum is now open to our members.

Please check it out and tell us what you think.

This is not the Frapp'r Map - this resides on our servers and is a Google Map.

I hope you enjoy this - everyone in "The Basement" worked hard on this map.
