There are so many comments on Facebook about folks who tried to join Barthmobile but could not get past the registration. Do we have any new members? I kinda doubt it. This site will die if all new Barth owners go elsewhere. Myself, I really don't check Barthmobile for new posts because there are so few - I go to Facebook instead, where all are welcomed.

Ian and Lynnette, I have been poking around this site as a guest for several years. I have no clue why you say no one can join. I signed up a few minutes ago. I tried it to see if what you say is true. There was no problem at all and I am on the new member list. I am not much of a computer person, but did manage to successfully create an account without the help on a computer geek person. Elmer

Some of us check this site daily . There might be a question posted that one of the members has insight on . The site is here so we can help each other keep these wonderful old coaches on the road . I can see where Facebook has a similar function and most are already on Facebook . Myself and probably many others are not on Facebook and I am personally very happy that forums like this one exist where information can be shared . I agree it would be better if it were easier for people to join and post pictures . The more Barth folks on here the more knowledge and experiences we can share . the site is old, all our Barth are old and my guess is that most of us are old, or at least older. I check most days, post seldom, and also seldom use the Breakaway. And simply hate f book. john

When I joined this site years ago, I needed the help of a friendly and dedicated member to prod the Admin to let me on. The problem seems to persist, with the verification just never being issued. It is as if no one is in charge, or at least very sporadically. I'm happy to hear that elmer had no trouble joining, but it does not seem to be the case with many others. I too have no love for Facebook, but if that's where new Barth owners go, then I check it out occasionally. Modern sites have automated verification to keep out Bots and other nonhumans. Should be a simple add-on, even for us old fossils...

"It is as if no one is in charge, or at least very sporadically." "Quote" Bill N Y is the host of this site, and he has a business and very little time to devote here. Steve VW was an assistant and of course he passed several months ago, MWrench is also an assistant but lately he has not been on the site very often. So I guess you are right about no one being in charge, Bill NY does still pay the bills, but it is kinda up to us users to fend for ourselves! Looks like we have picked up 12 new members in the last 30 days 1971 24 ft Barth Continental P30 chassis 350 engine

Welcome Elmer! I have been on the site for 20-years and unfortunately many members have passed away. I found myself going weeks without visiting the site so I set up email notifications so I can get to them easily. I am a technical guy along with a few others on the site so notifications allow me to quickly help when I am able. After all this time I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the site, our get togethers and tremendous amount of information available on Bartmobile.com. What I have NEVER figured out how to upload and post pictures Billy & Helen Thibodeaux Retired from Billy Thibodeaux's Premiere RV, Inc. Scott, LA 70583 I-10 Exit 97-Our Son now owns it! Welcome Elmer Everyone that responded so far has brought up valid points. Let me respond to some as I remember. BillyT pictures on at a time on the bottom of the post is attach. Easy if the picture is the right size. Can only post on per post. The old way is gone. This way is somewhat easier but is expensive because of the space it uses. Bill is busy with his life. He continues to fund the site and keep it running. I applaud it. This is a huge resource as are all of those who have and use our rigs. Signing up. If it doesn’t work probably operator error. Try again use a different name and email. I maintain 5 emails just for those kind of issues. All of the trusted site helpers have met the Lord. Trust is earned and Bill doesn’t have anyone he knows he can trust. Except MWrench but he is busy with his own stuff. I am in no position to help and don’t care to relearn my programming to do so. Only a few of us left talk to Bill directly. I won’t go into anymore detail on those who broke trust and caused issues. Period I am not on site often as I have my own issues taking all my time currently. I’m the only one maintaining/organizing a GTG anymore. Not sure I’ll be able to this spring. If I do it will be in Late May early June. I saw Chattanooga, Milford, Doorman’s Barthtober, Hillsboro, Tom Sawyer, Danny Zs December in Florida. Sorry Danny can’t remember what it was called. All just went away because of lack of attendance. Anyone is welcome to try and get a GTG. All you need is a park with enough space. If you can get people to find time in all of our crazy lives you will meet the nicest folks who will do whatever they can to share and help. Facebook to me is a hot mess with a sort system that makes no logical sense to me. You will have a 4 week old post and an hour ago post together. Attention lasts about 6 hrs. Your 1 hour ago May drop-down 4 or 5 posts for no apparent reason? I am there and try to give useful info but it is often ignored. To all my friends hello and for all of those I have not meet hope to sometime soon. Dana I agree with you and certainly couldn't have said it better. This sit isn't perfect but it is all we have. Bill is holding it together as best he can and hopefully someone with the skills and desire will step forward. As one who is approaching dementia it is not me. john

I managed to get ahold of Steve a couple of years ago to get my account set up here and I've always been glad that I did. It does seem the process is easier now but there was a time where verification emails needed to be manually resolved, and this does appear to affect some people still. I was really saddened to hear about his passing because I've learned so much from just reading through old posts that he contributed to. I had hoped to discuss with him "passing the torch" to a younger generation in some respect. I have personally contributed, although I was never able to get a "Supporting Member" badge. I would love to continue supporting both time and money to this site. I am a Software Engineer by trade and would happily volunteer to take over any technical aspects of the site if it would benefit the members. I am also happy to cover hosting costs and any other bills the site may incur, as well as perform any needed updates as they arise. If anything, I think that it would be wise to at least ensure that the site can be run and maintained into another full generation. I am sure I can get in touch personally with Bill, or if anyone speaks with him regularly you can encourage him to send me a message. I love my Barth, and I will own this coach until the day I die! I'd really hate to see anything happen to this wonderful site. ![]()

This thread prompted me to go back and check to see if I've reached out to Bill before and it looks like I did last year (just about getting a supporting member badge and some permissions stuff, not able to add a signature, etc.) but did not receive a response. Is there a better way to get in touch with him? I cannot send chats or messages (the URL just redirects to a generic "blocked" URL) and the chat room is inoperable due to flash support.

Jayskerdoo, you are exactly what this site needs, yes getting ahold of Bill NY is tough, but there is a guy that might be able to help, he will probably read this thread, but I will tell him about it anyway and see what he thinks!!! Another thought, you only live 100 miles from me, think about joining us up in Minnesnowta right after Memorial Day, we could join up in route, and tandem the final legs of the trip, it is the only remaining Barth GTG. Always a good time too! 1971 24 ft Barth Continental P30 chassis 350 engine
