Steve
Cindy and I will arrive on 27 May and leave on 1 June. Do we need to contact the camp ground or do you take care of it? Thanks!

Give them a call at the campground to be on the safe side. I have the block of sites reserved but each site is the responsibility of the occupant of the site. I'll update our list. Thumbs Up

Just looking at mapquest to see the options of going north from Chatanooga. The obvious routes are "the old route" over Monteagle and through Nashville to Louisville. Just a tad longer is 75 straight through. The shortest, and one I've never done, is 27 out of Chootown to 111, picking up 65 south of Mumfordville. This route cuts the milage by 50 miles or so, and adds maybe an hour timewise. I like state highways and going 55 or so a lot better than I roads at 70+, and so does the Euro.
My concern is that somehow one has to cross the mountains on this route and I wonder how bad it is as far as up and downs. Has anyone ever run this route?

Danny,

Barb and I traveled Rt. 127 out of Chatanooga when we bought the Barth near Atlanta a couple of years ago. It’s a fairly quiet 2-lane road with not a lot of hills or turns. And it goes around larger cities like Lexington and Cincinnati. A plus is that it goes through the Village of North Star, OH, Annie Oakley’s birthplace, for some flavor, and if the spirit moves you there is a museum 5 miles east of the Village. (We didn’t visit it, but will someday.)

Anyhow, from there you can keep heading north until you come across Rt. 33, which will take you to Goshen, IN. where the GTG will be (Elkhart County Fairgrounds). This route does take you into the innards of Fort Wayne which can be a little distressing, and so we stayed on Rt. 127 to Bryan, OH and then headed west on Rt. 6 and then met up with Rt. 33 to get to Goshen and points north.

Rt. 127 gives you a good ride and gives you a small town every once in awhile in order to “pull up yer socks.”

Have traveled Rt. 127 for years Going to MI. Much nicer than I-75.
My son and I rode the motorcycle to a MX race about 40 mile west of
Elkhart over the 4th of July this year and used Rt. 127 and 6. you know it is a nice route when a 15 year old tells you this is a great road to ride.

I much prefer the 2 lane over the I-states.

Out of Chattanooga, US 127 goes over Signal Mountain - long grade with a lot of turns, but a wide road up then down the other side. I've never driven it north of Crossville, but it looks to be a little hilly here and there.

I-465 goes around Ft. Wayne, so you don't have to go through downtown.

BTW, there's a Walmart Supercenter on US 33 just south of the fairgrounds.

I don't care what spot I get but full hook ups and 50 amp service would be very cool.

Cheers
Meric

I will be there a bit early and stay a bit late. No schedule helps.

Ok I was checking out the map. Is there anyone coming from Alaska? I think I'm the farthest away so that has to set some sort of record... Smiler

MWrench comes from SoCal, so he may have the distance crown.
