"Motor doesn't run"

Does anyone else think that they are deliberately trying to tempt Bill NY?

It's most likely a Cummins 903. Unless it's blown apart, it's probably salvageable. Parts availability for the engine could be an issue. The 903 wasn't a very popular motor for the commercial trucker. I have rebuilt "a" (as in one) 903 many years ago and it wasn't easy finding parts back then.

I thought it might be a Cummins 555.

You're right, it could also be a "Triple Nickle" hmm Obviously, at this stage, we're just guessing.

But, I'm not fond of either of these motors. Never did get around to rebuilding a 555. mechanic

555 may able to get parts, as they're installed in some boats. At 9.3L it would be about the right sizefor a coach. The 15L 903 would have been a bit large

I had truck line customers with both, and both were maintenance headaches. These were in brand new tractors. They replaced the bulletproof 190s, 225s and 250s, the 903s in linehaul, and the 555s in local cartage.

.........thread drift "Triple Nickel" stirred up an audal memory of 60 years, while on weather station in the North Pacific a B.O.A.C airline would report in with Brit accent "Ocean Station Uncle, Ocean Station Uncle this B.O.A.C. Triple Nickel Niner..." Strange how some things stick in your mind and what can trigger a memory.

An Ocean Station was a radar and weather station placed in the ocean to help guide flights before satellites. Between California and Hawaii there were two ocean stations with Ocean Station Uncle being a third of the way closest to Hawaii.
