on my 1993 25" barth hose batts are not charging off the generator/house converter or engine. the alternator is 14volts running, 120V converter is 14.3 Neither voltages are making it to the house batteries but the chassis batt is charging properly. From what it looks like when I follow the possative 2ga. cable from the house batteries it goes straight to the generator which makes no sense to me. I thought the house batteries would charge on any of the forms of 12V charging sources. ![]()

All of the Motor homes I have owned have the house and chassis battery systems separated. I have always carried a battery charger and plug it in when the generator is running if for some reason I have discharged the chassis battery Probably not a good idea for them to be integrated, a guy like me might overuse the house system and discharge them so that neither the generator or chassis starter will turn over. AS an after market system, there is a relay system that can be wired so that when the Generator is running it can charge the chassis battery but just don't leave your ignition or headlights on and you should not need it. Newer coaches might have this system as an option. The PO of 71 set up a switch so he could charge the house battery from the the alternator, or the chassis from the 12 volt converter, but I disconnected it because I would forget to shut it off more often than not, do not think running the 12 volt converter and the alternator on the same circuit was a good idea. 1971 24 ft Barth Continental P30 chassis 350 engine

There should be a non-reseting circuit breaker at or near the house batteries. It should have a little tab poking out of one of the sides which would indicate that it has tripped, simply push it back in and the charging should resume. If the breaker continually trips, check the amperage moving through the circuit but typically they trip because an instant but momentary issue. I did find a 80 amp breaker on the back of the frame by the batteries it is not tripped, voltage on both sides. I have paperwork that says there is an Isolator but I can not locate it, yet.

Found the 80amp breaker, now I'm looking for the Battery isolator and aux start solenoid. ![]()
