have a 73 with a 454, and from what i gather the thorley 303y would be the header that i need...cast manifolds on there now, which had the air fittings, which someone had plugged with metal epoxy or some goop...well, go figure. i would rather put headers on now than going through the process of getting the cast manifolds resurfaced, and plugged...the barth was re-engined in 89. Anyone with experience, will the 303y still work?

tx in advance and have a good weekend!

Yup.

I have used 303Ys on three RVs. Super easy to install. If you have duals, the collectors match up perfectly. Same diameter. Same spacing. Just cut the exhaust pipes off at the right place and use band clamps. If it is convenient, you could butt weld the collectors onto the exhaust pipe, or weld a flange onto the exhaust pipe instead of using the collector.

I am currently using the 303YS set on my Barth to keep it smog legal for CA or whatever other state may require it as they all tighten up their smog laws. The difference is AIR smog nipples welded on. My illegal engine always passes the tests. Smiler

This might also be a good time to consider installing an X pipe.
