I bought a Shurflo 5.7 water pump to replace the one that burned up last week on the way back from Arizona. Question is they say that I need to make sure the coach water system can handle 65psi water pressure and a 15 amp power source is also required with min wire size of 14 gage. They also say I have to install a Shurflo mesh strainer. I need some advice here. Anyone ever install one of these on an 85 Regal?

I installed one in my '88 last year - using original wiring and plumbing. No problems, however I really didn't notice any great improvement in water pressure but it sure is quieter. The coach has a 40psi input restricter valve so that might be the limited factor.

Your factory plumbing should be OK. An intake filter is a good idea, and should be available at any RV or boat shop. It screws on to the pump inlet and accepts a hose.
