Looks like I can order the parts and comes with instructions to replace. Saves me $200 in labor. May take me longer than them but I have more time than money.

I will try and take pics and write up for those wanting to do themselves also. I will probably look at hooking the rear unit to the Comfort Control also. It will take just a new control board and sensor and can then run as a 2nd zone. It looks like it may be possible to run the furnace off it also.

The 3307713010 Dometic Wall Thermostat Kit is available on-line from at least 2 places.

This is a spring project as we will be in the deep freeze soon and DBarth is an outside coach.

Thanks Again for all your help

So after more checking the board on my penguin is 3104855.006 that is contained in the roof top unit.

The listing for these conversions kits say they replace 3101625.006 or 3101625.014.

Anybody have any suggestions. When I search the number from my unit I get nothing or almost nothing. Certainly nothing useful.

Hi Dana
The up-grade kit installed in our unit was the

3307713.010 KIT
There was a page of unit numbers that the kit is reportedly used in:

it came with all the bits necessary to replace the wall mounted control unit, adapter cables to link unit to in roof cable, and all the bits to attach that in roof cable to the new circuit board that gets installed in the roof unit.

Good luck

Bud

Thanks for the response. I looked at so much contradictory info It was making my head spin trying to get the right elctronics.

I thought I'd go to the source. Dometic said it will not work for mine. I gave them the numbers from my unit and they quickly sent back there is a digital version available that will replace my analog. I have one more question if my having the electric heat installed will change which board I need but it's looking brighter. I'll keep updating

It does depend on whether you have a heat pump or a strip in the A/C unit-- ours has a strip
I did not want to have any interfacing of the heating with the A/C-- so don't know if there is a different kit for that, the wall unit seems to indicate that it can be used for more complex systems -- I like things simple

Your model number tells Dometic which type you have. Mine has Heat Strips and the digital works flawlessly.

Finished and running. This was no plug and play. The board 3104855.006 on my pengiun was up top in the upper unit. This was removed and needed to have a 18" six wire pigtail spliced into the 3 speed motor wires, the compressor and the capacitor with a Dometic specific plug to go to the new board 3109226.005 that is enclosed in its own metal box and is installed in the lower unit in the air return. There are adapters 3106986.007 for the wiring harness to go to the new CCC 3109228.001 that replaces the original thermostat.

The new CCC could be used to run the other ac unit if I switched out the unit to the above electronics. It could also fun the furnace. Only issue is getting the wires snaked between and then all eggs are in one basket.

Everything now working so any further modifications will wait now.

Bill,
I am putting the copies on its way to you. I made copies of the adapters cables installation. I made a copy of my notes for the wiring harness. There we no instructions for the control board at all(hard to believe). I did not make copies of the CCC as it's an easy find on the internet. I looked for where I found info on the net about installing the board but drew a blank. The numbers above are what I used. I got a used wire harness locally. I had found the number to order the pigtail but am unable to refind it again. I will need to get one if I replace the rear board.
I put the new box and board in the center between the upper and lower units

This is a picture of the old board as I was removing it so I'd remember what wires went to what items.

Here are the scanned items for the retrofit. Maybe Dana will chime in on his hand scratched notes. Wink

Chime, chime, chime Big Grin

Definitely not a plug and play. The electronic control board came in its own electrical box and is made to be installed in the air return. Also there was zero documentation or instructions.

The chicken scratchings are my notes to wire the 18" pigtail wire that plugs into the new electrical box. This has a propitiatory Dometic plug. I searched all over to find one. That is the only part number I did not list. I bought it used from a local guy so no numbers.

The first document is for the adapter cable which makes it so you don't have to snake a new cable. That was nice and worth the 30 bucks.

The CCC Comfort Control Center documentation is a quick search on the internet and lays it all out to run it.

I found a couple very helpful documents on the net but was unable to refind them. Some day when I have nothing to do I'll try and find them.

Anybody got any of the old Penguin boards available from an old unit they removed? I know they are NOT available on the open market anymore for these units that are 15+ years old. I am looking for both the boards, the one from behind the controls in the interior face plate and the one in the unit up on the roof. PM me if you can help me out.
