Stratosurfer and Bill, I went out and checked on my Barth this morning. I have a allisson 643 4 speed transmission and cat engine. The engine will not shut down when the transmission is in gear nor will it start if in gear. The shifter on mine is on the curb or passenger side of transmission. Push the shifter all the way toward the front, this should put it in reverse, then pull back one notch and this should be neutral. You might have to play with it some because it is close. I checked mine this moring and this is the correct procedure. In the above blog i told you wrong with 2 clicks and it is just one from full forward or reverse position. Ray (sky)

All,
Great ending to this mystery with Bill and I going live and troubleshooting together. Through Bills truly professional grade knowledge and leading we found my S wire on my starter is not getting full voltage. I will clean/replace the end of this wire and trace to any solenoid connections to end the issue for good. Coach started right up when my test probe wiggled/moved the connection on the S wire lug end on the starter.
Bill, Texas' best barbacue on me next time your down my way.
Mark

Here is the "S" Terminal on his starter motor. If you look closely, you can see the sideways "S" on the plastic solenoid housing just below the smaller diameter wire.
