And to go along with the "aviation" approach.......you can't beat using Cherry Max rivets for rivet replacement,(became a enthusiastic advocate of them during my A&P days). Also available through Aircraft Spruce.

I did not find any Cherry Max closed end rivets. Have you a link to a page that I missed?

Hello Kevin,
What do you mean by "closed-in". Cherry Max rivets always have a portion of the mandrel exposed(recessed) after correct installation. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're looking for.

They hold better structurally than the softer all-aluminum rivets. That's what I used as replacements for the many rivets that lost their "heads" on the Breakaway XL I used to have. (still looking for a replacement Barth by the way..........8.3 Cummins, Allison 6, Gillig, diesel generator, etc.). The wait might be long but well worth it!

A Gillig chassis with a Cummins would be very rare; I know of just one in the database.

Closed end is waterproof. Need to be aluminum mandrel also. No mandrel is exposed.

Got it. I appreciate the clarification.

Thanks for the insight Rusty.I'll keep the faith and visit this wonderful site daily,(or sometimes twice daily....it is so addictive!),and maybe another Barth with the right combination will make an appearance one day.

Thanks to you as well Kevin for your interest an participation on this site. You're doing a great job in steering people in the right direction with either tech questions or selling their Barth.

Oops I am sorry Rusty, but could not help it but notice MichaelR you have a new supporting member banner.
MichaelR On behalf of every member we thank you for the support. It is nice and quiet here without advertisement banners. Without support from the members, we would have more advertisement than Las Vegas has lights.
There are other new Computer Supporting Member Banners in the Member List also. Computer Thanks to all! Thumbs Up cheers
