Duane88Spring,Maybe
Saw the first robin today, we have had several days of really pleasant weather. The sure sign of the change in seasons is the arrival of the pelican flock. They have not made an appearance as of yet. But a day or two ago there was a flight of 4 white Swans going up the river, that is the first time ever I have seen Swans in this area. Hope we are done with snow and ice and spring leading to summer is on the way!!

Duane88It is officially spring here on the Mississippi river in Iowa! The pelican flock has arrived either late yesterday or early this morning.
Cormorants have been here for a while and are fishing at the riverside park. Pelicans floating about over their dives, robbing them of any caught fish not promptly swallowed.
The resident Eagle, "Lucky Lindy", landed in its roosting tree, looked at the activity flapped its wings and left with a squawk! Pissed I guess!
We have tons of wildlife here on the river! Fox, coyotes, musk rats, deer, herons, egrets, seagulls, ducks, turkeys and geese. along with the hawks, eagles, cormorants and pelicans, and it is right next to downtown Clinton. Almost forgot the pleasure boaters, fishermen, joggers, dog walkers and teenagers! Not to mentions old guys drinking coffee!
