....I reviewed the whole site....Is it just me, or do you get the impression that they depend on a whole different source of pharmaceuticals than most Barth owners?....

Indeed true Lee, however, I recall talking with the owner once by phone and he seemed like a really normal person. There is however, a seed in me, (silver seed?) that says that I would like to check out this Burning Bush thing. But a larger part me me recalls the Doobie Brothers song, "Momma Told Me Not To Come" and for some reason it seems to apply here....

I know some guys (in their 50's - 60's) that went to the Burning Man thingy... Plenty of naked women etc., but way too many really spooky psycho types that you just wouldn't like to be around, naked chicks or not! They packed up and left asap, and swore never to go back!
14 deg. here and Gypsy has frozen water lines........AW, SH..!!!!!
Cheers, John

The Burning Man Festival is not for everyone, but you would be surprised at the sense of community and the respect for fellow campers that exists in such a large and diverse collection of people. It's true that there are lots of strange sights, weird performances and interesting characters wearing colorful costumes and even some people who choose not to wear anything at all, but Burning Man is safer than most cities in America. We have people in age from 7 to 70, from all over the world, and there is even a Kids Camp for families with children. The local law enforcement, which helps patrol the event, has stated that there are more problems with drunks and psychos at the annual Chili Cook-Off in Reno.

Since the event is held on a dry lake bed in August, the conditions there can be very harsh, cold during the night and hot during the day, with occasional blinding dust storms. This requires a well-sealed, air-conditioned RV, and if you really want to keep the insides clean, a high-filtration, positive-pressure ventilation system. You kinda get the feeling you are camping on the moon. My 30-old Barth (dubbed the SilverSeed) fits the bill, because it's tough and it's been around the block. Since it looks like a Buck Rogers space-ship, I get a kick out of playing the role of a space cowboy. I'm 60 years old and having more fun at Burning Man than you can imagine.

Michael2, I don't think I would like to go there, but I wish I did want to go there. Does that make sense?

Dave does that translate to you'd go in a minnesota minute but DEB won't let you, re: "all the naked ladies"?

I have seen things at Burning Man that you wouldn't believe... including a few naked women whose body should really never see the light of day.

Ironside, we live in the days of HBO Showtime, porno email spam etc. The chance of seeing naked women couldn't get me to fill even one of my two gas tanks. Now seeing about thirty Barths lined up in a row could get me to travel to Indiana.

Dave, if all goes well make that 31.
actually in 2001 we took the barth all through the northwest and had our 20 year old son with us. we were going to be near burning BUSH so i proposed we stop by.
after checking on the internet i found we had missed early registration and the cost for 3 was about $750.00. after showing wifey the website for it and telling her the cost my proposal was nixed! it's probably just as well as i didn't make a good hippy in the late 60's early 70's either.

Ya, someday I am going to ask Deb if I can take 6 months and the Barth and head out to find myself. During Woodstock I was in Korea. When the anti war demonstrations at SC Northridge were happening I was a 23 year old drama student. I went to an SDS meetion once and every one though I was a Narc. No matter how hard I tried I was just never part of a cool group. That's why I am so proud of being a "Boomer".

But trust me not to be too political here but someone could easily talk me into demonstrating against unfair trade and sending all of our jobs to China. Wonder if they talk about that at Burning Man???

Greetings Barthonians- I come in Peace.
I recently acquired a Barth Motor Coach,i bought it because it was cool,i had no idea the subculture that existed amongst the ranks of ownership.
The whole Burning Man/ Silver Seed thing blew me away,it frightened me and pleased me, all in the same minute.
I have always been an eclectic gear head and i knew this Barth was something special.
My Silver Seed is nearly an identical unit displayed on the website. My cockpit area is not nearly as well equipped ,but i do have a vacuum gauge.
According to the build sheet it is 1972 Barth 28' Limited, it is all aluminum and in excellent unmolested original condition. It has a 402 inch Big Block Chevy
and only 77,200 original miles. The previous owners had just spent several thousand dollars on updates and repairs. I traded a truck worth 5000.00 even up for it and drove it home.It has all the manuals and documentation It has no leaks and has only had two owners since new.The body is near perfect with only one lower body panel scrape the size of a small dog.
I live in Florida and Dash air is ice cold [very important] all the cabinetry is original and nice It is well mantained machine and feel very blessed to own it.I did not research the value very well before buying it , i just kinda flew by the seat of pants and said a little prayer. Is there any special things to watch for on this unit , iknow it is old and i dont know much about furnaces and gas stoves, ive had electric stuff all my life, am i in danger?
Mr. Bowers thank you for maintaining this site and your efforts are appreciated,Be well and I'll visit here time to time.Shalom.

Welcome Bill B to the website. and congratulations on your new to you coach. It sounds like a real find. If it is original, I am interested in the interior colors. Do you have to wear sunglasses to enter?

This is the color scheme chart for 1973, I assume yours must be similar:
