Too Old!
We have only run into that at one place in 7 years of fulltiming. It was in Mesa Az. in 04. We were in the car checking the place out and they told us that they had a 10 year rule. I just told them that our bus was a "little older" than that but was in pretty nice shape. They said the boss would have to see it and approve it or not. I said ok, got it and came back and he said no problem. They didn't find out until i filled out the registration form that it was 36 years old. Smiler Came back the next year and was told the same thing. As soon as the boss saw us he said hey how are you, welcome back.....they even sent us xmas cards for 3 or 4 years. Big Grin

Gunner, saw your former coach at the Fla GTG last December and couldn't imagine turning that beautiful thing away from any park. Anyway, I agree that in some cases,[like a foot or so in length] just fudge it. Not only don't they care, in most cases they'd rather you do.

With the downturn in sales over the last four years, I'll bet they will start modifying the cutoff age at the few of these places that exist. The logistics will demand it.

We also had a similar experience at what I think was one of those famous "Resorts".

The lady at the front desk nicely explained that they use that rule to give them an out incase they get someone that they don't really want to rent to.

We made our coach 9 years old, and had all the "newer" owners wanting a tour.......NOBODY gave us any grief over having perhaps the oldest coach at the Resort. confusion

Just whiling away my lunch hour (new part time job in Charlotte NC)reading posts.
Next thing you know they might have an age limit on old fa***, like me. Some of the 'adult only' retirement communities have limits on how young you can be. I've always wondered exactly what goes on in these 'adult' places. Sounds like a fun investigation

I was just talking to somebody this afternoon that needed some work done on their coach but was told that the repair shop won't work on anything that is over 10 years old.

I have had some shops who flat out refuse to work on motorhomes. Back in May when I had my radiator replaced I got lucky when I found the shop that did the work.

Yesterday I took the Barth in for a slow tire leak. At first the shop said "no RVs" but said they would replace my valve stems and patch the leak (was a screw).

Once they started working the mechanic said he would do any suspension work on it, no problem. I'll be going back to get my wheel bearing serviced. 2 mechanics spent about an hour checking everything out under the coach. Both commented on what a well built unit it is.

The bill was $37 for the patch and 2 stems installed which seemed reasonable to me. I'll be going back.

You should plug them, the repairs shop that is. Tire should be patched. Big Grin

Anyone who does a good job, should get a personal recommendation from the happy camper. Thumbs Up So, who was it?

Oh yeah, they deserve a plug for sure. It was Sycamore Truck Center in Sycamore IL, 815-895-5102.

When they found to screw in the tire, I said can you plug it? He said NO NO NO, you NEVER plug a steer tire. Patch only!
