Tom and Loraine, we, too, have rusty 1" tubing problems. Our coach spent a lot of time in Florida before it went to Arizona in 1998, ergo, salt water atmosphere. The other cause is that the protective material between the 1" steel tubing and the aluminum skin, has a tendency to deteriorate and then you get the aluminum robbing the steel. As we have replaced the steel tubing, we have also put new plastic spacing material between the new tubing and the aluminum skin. Also, if you need to replace the tubing, from talking to Bill NY, it's easy to remove the aluminum skin in the area involved, weld in new tubing, and then replace the aluminum skin.

I would be willing to bet that galvanic corrosion is more the culprit as you mention with the aluminum/steel isolation. No doubt the moist Florida air will promote this over a dry atmosphere like AZ.

How do I get my husband to stop working on his new Barth and finish my laundry room????

Loraine,

Cleverly suggest he put the laundry in the Barth. When he realizes you're suggesting taking up valuable space in the beloved Barth, he will jump to getting the house one finished Thumbs Up

Oh yeah laundry room, forgot about that or perhaps I'd rather just work on the Barth. Well I do not have room for a washer and dryer in the Barth, so I quess I should finish the one in the house.

I just don't know why all these different metals just can't get along! I'm going reevaluate the the condition of my square tubing, after all the great feedback I want to take another look. See I forgot about the laundry room again!
