Should a Barth Breakaway deisel that's been sitting idle for three years even be considered for purchase? The tires are even flat. Is this a nightmare in the making for a potential buyer?

Probably not.

That being said, the variables are endless.

Location to house, your mechanical background, storage prep, cost of coach, mileage, additional mad money available and time? These are some of the many things that you would need to take into account.

Can you let any more info out of the bag?

It's a standard 92 Breakaway with about 70K miles. I can't imagine the diesel fuel is even good after 3 years. What about the internals of the transmission, the engine, brakes, etc. - it was stored outdoors.

All the mechanicals are suspect. If the engine were laid up with fresh oil and coolant, it might not be too bad. The transmission, probably OK, ditto, the diffy.

Most likely it was neglected before parking.

This one sounds like a resurrection job; it might be worthwhile if it could be got for next to nothing.

Try re-reading this post. Most of what was said would be applied to this coach.

I've been sent to the Stewart Airport to get an old fuel pump tanker truck running that sat for 4 years. I got it running without chaging the fuel or filters. I only needed to drive this up onto a low boy trailer.

It took 2 batteries and several hours to unsieze brake shoes and s-cam bushings, it needed some wiring repair, free spinning of the starter motor and two cans of hornet spray.
