I remember those, and Tom McCahill (sp?) too. It seems that was the time before the spin doctors decided hype and hysteria sell better, when common sense was actually common. I'm not surprised if numerous others on this site read and remember that also.

The current lack of interest in reading is killing good journalism, too.

I'll bet there are more kids reading more today than in the past. But they are NOT reading print, but rather computer screens. I remember my 3 year old grandson begging to be taught to read. Not to read a book, but instructions on how to play a game. Keep in mind this also requires reading comprehension.

E-books are becoming very popular now. Check it out.

Most of the kids nowadays get their information off the web. This scares the hell out of polititions as it become to easy to do fact checking. Most of us realize that politics today has little to do with the truth.
