Mike/Cindi Wyear of manufacture..
I know this has been discussed before..but at what point in time is a coach determined to be the year for State DMV registration purposes..
example
chassis: 8/14/90
Barth #: 10/24/90
data tag starts with 9010
for DMV purposes, technically is this a 1990 or 1991 coach?
any advantages/disadvantages of one over the other..?
Tnx..

Steve VWGood question. In Michigan they go by the chassis manufacturers VIN number and date of build. My 87 model is registered as an 86.
Not sure of any advantage either way.

RustyFL uses Barth's model year; my Breakaway, built 4/93 is a '94.

scottydlMost official records will be determined from the VIN, which I believe is registered by the RV manufacturer and not the chassis maker... although from what Steve said, Michigan may be opposite. Many RV bodies are affixed to a chassis from the previous year.
Mike it sounds like yours will be a 1990 all the way around. I doubt that age has an advantage, since RV registration costs do not depend on how old it is.

Tom and JulieThe manufacturer produces a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin and that has the description of the finished vehicle. It has Year, Model and Make. That determines the year, not the numbers. You never see that as the Dealer submits it when they file the Application for Tilte.
