Our new Barth
I just wanted to say hi. My wife Angi and I, along with our two daughters age 2 and 4, just bought our first RV. We weren't looking for much, just something we could tool around in for a couple of years. We saw a Barth advertised in craigslist and thought it looked cool. After a web search we found this site. The support and community here made us feel the Barth was the way to go. It didn't help that this was the best RV we could find in our meager pricerange. So thank you to all of you here for helping us make what I hope was the best decision. The 1977 24' Barth was stuck in the mud at a campsite some 150 miles away from our home in Indianapolis. Tow trucks refused to help us get it out, so we had to get inventive. With the help of 5 jacks, 2 shovels, lots of wood, about 4 hours of labor, and lots of will power, we drove it out of the soft ground and onto the road. After a long day, we quickly gathered our things and started our trek home. It needs some work, but has lots of potential. Can't wait to get it in proper working order.

WELCOME!
Sounds like you have already invested a hefty price, not in dollars but heavy labor, for your Barth. As you may have already noticed, there are folks on this site with a wealth of knowledge and abundant experience. I am not claiming to be one of them. I am learning more every day.

In either case the idea is quite staggering.

Charlie and Angi, welcome to the Barth neighborhood. I have a 1975 Barth with the same color scheme on the outside.

When you get a chance we would like to see interior pictures.

And greetings from another Barther who is from Indy (live in Atlanta now tho). Grew up on the east side and saw my first Barth on HWY 31 north near the then factory on my way to Notre Dame. If your "Free the Barth" project happened recently, how in the world did you get dry and sunny weather this time of year in IN? Best wishes,

Take it from me, when you have to work to get your Barth out it really forms a bond with you. That's a great find.

I think some one was trying to grow a bigger Barth but it didn't take root. Cool story and we all love the photos. whats the quote "A picture is worth a zillion words"

Remember to get pictures of the data tags for the Data tag project. How about some pictures of the inside to see your new treasure.

Welcome to the Brotherhood of Barth and just so no one complain the Sisterhood. Thinking of ya Mary Ray!

If you would, could you please take a picture of this tag for our files? For 1977, it could look like either of the following.
