Natchez Trace Parkway
Leaving next week for our annual INDY 500 vacation ,er business trip and would like to do the scenic route. Can anyone advise about the Natchez Trace Parkway from Louisiana to its termination in Nashville area? Particularly interested in diesel fuel stops, and availability of services/camping that has been good to you.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

I've only driven it from Jackson to Mathiston (US 82). There is one small (no services except bathrooms) first-come-first-served park about 10 miles N. of French Camp, where there is also a small service station (don't recall its having diesel).

Kosciusko is about 17 miles south of French Camp, and is a fair-sized town with diesel and other services.

Anyway, the Council House on SR 407 1/4 mi E of the Trace at French Camp is a great place to eat.

The Trace was one of our most memorable trips. Many free boondock opportunities right on the Trace.
Diesel availability wasn't an issue for us, so don't recall, but this site seems to show where they're at:

Just completed the trip from Natchez to Nasville on the Trace and it was spectacular! I don't think I saw 50 cars on the entire 445 mile trip. Although the road is two lane and narrow you can get used to it if you drive the 50 mph limit. When the rare RV is coming at you dragging its Toad it can get a little white knuckle, but the scenery and lack of stress fighting the Interstates is worth it. Stayed at the River View RV Park in Vidalia LA (a city owned and operated park) and the people could not have been nicer. Tonight am in the Bluegrass Music RV Park in Franklin TN and they are just as nice. For those talking in another thread about a GTG in Louisiana this would be a perfect way for the Northern members to get there. The entrance in Nashville is very well hidden and unspectacular, but worth the effort. One last thing - this is not to be driven at night! Most the rest areas are closed and you will undoubtedly freeze deer in your headlights. We don't want any casualties, either of Barth's or the animals.
Off to INDY tomorrow morning!!

Almost forgot - we made the entire 450 miles on 51 gallons of diesel, so fuel is not needed on the trip if you start full.

8.82 MPG not bad for a 3208 Tom. I'm jealous.

I couldn't make the entire trip on one tank; it would take 42 gals, and the tank is only 40... Cool

Always plan on completing a leg with a 1/4 tank in reserve!
