My left arm for a 69 Yenko, but that V-8 is right up my alley! A LS1 would probably be the ultimate in aluminum light weight for that beast.

Yeah, even today that would be something. However, I would consult a rear end expert first. A posi or Tru-Track would be a must. I suspect a gentle foot on the clutch would be necessary to keep the diff in one piece.

this particular Corvair is owned by Charlie Friend of Alamogordo NM. It is basically a C4 suspension set up with a mid mounted aluminum 400" small block attached to a Porsche transmission. I have never been fond of the C4 suspension setup but Charlie has this dialed in fairly well.

he is looking at a LSX block now as a replacement. This video was made in June and was the first time Charlie completed 2 back to back runs over 210 MPH. He did extensive mods to the front for CD and finally made it.

Charlie had a spectacular crash at the Silver State a few years ago. You have to watch to the end for footage of the crash. First part is of Inada, a Japanese guy, that has never had good luck at the SSCC.
SSCC corvair crash.
