Jim and Tereemail safety
Should you open an email that is sent by someone or some entity that you don't know? I have been told that it is safe to do so as long as you don't click on any links in the email

Jim and TereIf you don't have Mailwasher Pro or a similar program, can a virus infect your computer just by the opening of an email?

RustyGenerally, no. But ANY email from an unknown source should be deleted without opening.

Danny ZOn a related note, when going through my spam box I often find the sender is someone I know well, or a relative, but it will just be their name, not their e-mail address, and the message will be something like "This is really funny" with an attachment. DELETE.
