The mystery switch near the door may have been for your electric steps. On my Barth it is used to keep the steps extended when you are camping. Otherwise the steps extend and retract every time you open and close the door.

That might have been what mine was. I didn't see anything hooked to it. My steps were replaced with a manual pull down as the original one was torn off.
