Garys 1972-25Lelectric step power source
I am trying to revive a 1972 25L after years of storage. 20K miles. Interior like new. My first question is where does the electric step get its power ? Jump the motor and it works in and out but no power from ? Thanks Thomas

Boonton JimIf its a Kwikee step their web site has a trouble shooting guide that I found helpful with my step issues.
I believe the electric steps have two power sources, a red wire for power and a yellow wire that is switched from the ignition to prevent you from driving away with the step extended. On my 85 Regal there is a switch just inside the entry door on the wall that controls the automatic and override functions.

RustyThere should be a switch near the door marked "ES". On my '94 one position extends the step each time the door is opened and retracts when the door is closed. The other position retracts the step when the door is closed and the ignition is on and extends it and leaves it extended when the ignition is off and the door is opened the first time.
This is with the new Kwikee step. The old one was shut off in the first instance, above.
