I know this is not a usual Barth issue but, I have a(new) Cummins with 3500 miles, the manual calls for the first oil change at 15000. I'm thinking maybe 5000. Rusty, bill and all what do you think?

Modern machining techniques pretty much eliminate need for the old "break-in" period. That said, I've heard somewhere, "Oil's cheaper than metal".
