Replacing 7.50R16
Hi, I need to replace my RV's tires, 7.50R16 on right now, with 235/85R/16 but since they have a wider section width rubbing would a problem. Does anyone knows if placing spacers between the back rims is safe?

Thank you.

It would be iladvised. Would change loading of bearings.
For our MINI, Discount Tire beat the best price I could find online. They have also given me excellent customer service with fast, free flat repair, free rotation, etc.

Hi Christian
You didn't say what your're driving but on our 77 20 ft we have 235/85R 16s which have worked just fine.

We have 235/85R/16 on the steers but went with 215/85R/16 because the 235s did rub.

Hi Bud; yes, you are right, I should have mentioned my RV which is a 1994 Itasca Passage on a P30 chassis, with a 454, 7.2 Liter Chevy engine. The inside of the wheel measures 6"

Appreciate your taking the time to reply.

Christian.

I did consider the 215/85R16 but the smaller diameter would affect the gas mileage which is important when the engine is a 454.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Christian
Ours too is a P30 but as you can see a "tad" older (more experienced). I do not know what the wheel measurements are but the original tire spec was for a 7.50 X 16.

Hi Bud, I found out that the 7.50R16's on the RV have a section width of 9.2" so, the 235/85R16 should not be a problem as far as rubbing, besides, I think they are better tires and less expensive.

Thank you again Bud.

Have a great day everyday!

Christian.
