Couldn't find anything on the back forums> So here's my problem. My headlights, tail lights, nor side marker lights are working. My "electrical specialist" has checked and found there is no power coming into the light switch and on running a wire to the switch direct from the battery, we found that the lights all come on. Does anyone have a schematic on the P30 Chevy chassis(1985 Regal). I have the manuals that came with the MH but no schematics on the lighting.

Francis BrantleyFor sure, any help would be appreciated.

Ed ChevalierCheck the fuse block for current. If current exists at the headlight fuse, then the wire leading from the fuse to the switch is faulty. If you have an emergency just run a hot wire from the fuse block to a ignition switchable source on the fuse block until you can trace down the short. There are short testing gadgets that will help isolate the bad wire.

Francis BrantleyThanks for the replies. My "supervisor" has not been able to check out your suggestions Gunner. Hope he can get to it today(he is working for free so I can't rush him). NO the horn nor cigarette lighter do not work. Thanks for the input so far.

Sloop John BMine has fuses under dash by drivers seat and also under hood on the fire wall. Found this when radio would not work when replaced.

OK, we have probably narrowed it down to somewhere between the firewall connector and the starter solenoid battery terminal.
The lights are not fused at the fuse panel. The light circuit is protected by the light switch and its own automatic circuit breaker. And there is a fusible link connecting to the starter solenoid hot terminal.
The most likely suspect area would be down by the starter solenoid. Lots of heat there, especially after shut down. Also opportunities for bad maintenance by POs.
Check for a bad connection, burned or shorted wiring or a failed fusible link. If I remember correctly, there are two 8 or 10 ga red wires that connect to the hot terminal there. One goes to the alternator (often via an isolator) and one goes to the firewall connector and on to the fuse panel and light switch.
I should add here that the light switch is just about at the limit of its design limitations in motor home service, particularly a motor home longer than common in 1969. Even worse with a toad, and worse yet with a boat or race car trailer. A new switch is never a bad idea, and a relay to lighten the load on the switch can prevent trouble when you don't need it.

Francis BrantleyBill h- Didn't get to work on MH today and probably not for the next 2-3 days if it rains as predicted. We will check out suggestions made and I will let everyone know on progress.

Francis BrantleyWell, I finally got back for an update on my headlight problem which has now been solved. All suggestions were appreciated very much BUT I guess Bill H. gets the A+ since his recommendation hit the "nail on the head". Not only are my head and brake lights working, but also side markers and the "night lights" inside. Thanks again for everyone's "professional" help. AND one last question----has anyone heard from MARY RAY. I haven't seen her online nor have I heard from her. Hope she is OK.
