Air Conditioner Suggestions
I've been spending a fair amount of time on the roof of my 1985 25' Regal recently as I have replaced the two roof vents and added a satellite dish/antenna combo. I plan on recoating the roof as it appears to be overdue although there are no apparent leaks.

My air conditioner does not blow cold air. It is a Dometic 135RA that apparently draws 15.3 amps at full load. The compressor runs and the fan blows but I don't get any cold air. Being that it's 28 years old it makes sense to me to replace it with a new more efficient model rather than to repair it.

My questions:

1. I only have one roof unit, is 13,500 btu adequate or should I opt for a 15,000 btu unit?

2. The coach has a propane furnace. Does it make sense to spend the few extra dollars for a heat strip?

Thanks for any help.

Jim,through my experience on many day to day things I found many times it is cheaper on the long run to get quotes from at least 2 sources from professionals, giving one an option of perhaps giving it a try oneself.its cheaper on the long run to swallow ones pride.wally proud owner of 34ft monarch-van-isle

My 13,500 BTU Dometic Penguin II (with heat strip) cools adequately, but I shut the doors to the BR and Bath.

I wish now I had foregone the heat strip, as the unit is too loud, so I use small space heaters; I could have gotten 15,000 BTU cooling without the strip..

Latest recommendations for replacing older air conditioners (only if needed of course..) brands, capacities, roof or basement, heat strips needed or not, etc.. ?
