My son is an owner/operator and complains about them being on the cellphones or listening to something other than the CB and then when there are problem, they are asking around as to what is going on . His ex-father-in-law is a trucker to and in listening to him talk about his experiences, there is a lot of value to the CB when there are bad road conditions. etc.

Enforcement could be difficult.........In a semi truck cab, if the driver has enough sense to hold the phone in his right hand, it will be hard to detect from the left side of a typical sedan.

I would like to see extra stiff fines like that for SUV drivers, too. As a motorcycle and bicycle rider, I get to see a lot, and the most dangerous vehicle is a black expensive SUV with tinted windows, personalized license plates and a USC license plate frame driven by a blonde on a cellphone. Pimp wheels add to that, but they are not usually seen with the USC license plate frame.

I am amazed how many truckers still holding that phone even with these fines. I have a first class view right into their cabs and it is talking, texting or the Qualcom (their onboard computer). The four wheelers, they are talking, drinking, putting makeup on, reading books, eating, slapping the kids. I wish people would just DRIVE.
