Fred & CindyWater heater not working
Well, I just drove the Barth about 100 miles to St. Louis with temperature in mid 20's. Tried to fire up the hot water heater and it will not light up. I have nearly a full tank of propane and it has always fired up... in warmer weather. Also, the furnace heaters will not fire up either. I was driving about 65 MPH. Any thoughts what might be wrong? Do you think the cold has something to do with it?

ccctimtationMy problems have always revolved around spider webs and spiders were a big problem this year. Unusual for both to be affected but worth shooting them with compressed air. Is the igniter firing off?
Where in MO are you located and where in STL are you now?

Marvin+DorisIs your LP gas detector turned on (green light)? Sometimes dogs or vacuum cleaners flip them in the off position. No gas then.

RustyMake sure the valve at the tank is open and the gas detector is activated.
Then turn on a stove burner and hold a flame to it until it lights. This will bleed the system. It takes an extra effort when the temp is low.
Note that furnace controllers (except aftermarket Dinosaur boards) won't make many attempts to light, but they'll allow the fan to run. The thermostat must be turned off after a couple of attempts if the furnace doesn't ignite to reset the controller. In some cases, the controller has to be disconnected momentarily to clear it.
If the furnace lights, the system should be bled enough for the water heater to come to life.
Note that Tim's comments about obstructions in the burners are valid, as it doesn't take the critters long to crud things up.

Fred & CindyOK!.... I feel a bit stupid now. The LP detector was off, somehow. You guys saved me from having a cold shower. Thanks very much. We are in the St Louis area at Pacific, MO at my daughter's house. We like to bring the Barth on our visits. I am a native from St. Louis area from Fenton, Mo but currently live in St Robert, MO.
