Lenny,

You may have read we just purchased our Barth in Georgia. Nick and Rusty graciously went to check it out for us before we traveled from Michigan to see it. They found a "sluggish" HWH leveler that didn't want to retract. The Prior Owner paid $412 for a new unit and had it shipped to our place.

I've got a repair shop that will be doing the swap in the next few days. I'll let you know how much the charges are.

Lenny, I contacted my tech guy at HWH. The kick-down cylinder can be rebuilt by them or they can sell you a replacement. If you have a "real" hydraulic repair shop near you, I am sure they can do it too. We have a guy about 10 miles from here that has rebuilt everything we have thrown at him. The first step would be to remove the leaking cylinder, then send it to HWH or me.

Did that in June - $375 plus shipping to and from HWH. The basic reply was - You cannot rebuild these yourself because of the proprietary parts, close tolerances and high pressure tests. They do not just replace the solenoid valves but the entire piston and seals. Short cuts do not work and mine took four weeks turnaround. However it works great and I have a warranty. On our old coaches, infrequent use is the bigger contributor to failure. We just bought a brass cap of the proper size and screwed it on when we removed the line. 3/8" I think.

The prior owner of our newly acquired Barth stepped up and paid HWH to ship us a new unit for our left front leveler. He paid $412 and I believe that included shipping. I had the old one removed and the new one installed in a neighboring town. Cost was $59.92 and it works fine. Not sure whether the old one will be a core unit next time or not.
