Converter Specs
Our, new to us 93 Breakaway, has a 75 amp converter made by 'Todd Engineering Sales' who probably didn't make it but aren't in business any more anyway. The outside of the converter says "Power Source Battery Charger" Model PC 75. Two questions:
1. How many amps does it draw? My guess is no more than 10
2. I don't hear a fan running. That worries me. In the converter in Old Blue, the fan comes on regularly.
If anyone out there that has a 91,92, or 93 Breakaway, maybe you have the operating manual. I can't find it anywhere in ours. While our Breakaway is listed on the title as a 93, the data tag says it was made by Barth in June of 92 and the chassis made by Spartan in December 91
thanks
Jim

75 amp at 12vdc = 7.5 amp at 120vac. You will seldom use that much power. The fan will only come on based on heat. There is a thermo coupler inside that will start the fan.

The operating manual is plug it in and hook to batteries.

Thanks, Gary. It also has a small device called a 'Charge Controller' that is wired into the converter. I'm hoping it runs the charger through different cycles to prevent over charging and provides a desulfication cycle. My Progressive Dynamics converter has that with their 'Charge Wizzard', but that's 2013 technology not 1992 technology. I checked house batteries and they are charging at 13.25 volts. First check on the starting batteries was 13.0 but two hours later was down to 12.87. According to the wiring diagrams this charger is supposed to charge both house and starting batteries. Thoughts?

Unlikely.
Me thinks the schematic show the H&C batteries connected, via a spring-loaded rocker switch and a relay, for double starting current.

If it is the same as the one I have, (I still have it in the coach as a spare) it has a two wire connection that will change the output from 13.3-13.6 VDC to 14.2-14.5 VDC.

Certainly it would be better if you had a three/four stage charger.

You might look around to see if there is a isolator, if there is then it will could charge both house and chassis batteries depending on how it is connected.
