towerguyFurnace Blower Motor Replacement
I have one of the furnace blower motors that has become rather noisy since cold weather moved in. I have purchased the replacement motor and scheduled installation next week. I haven't looked very close at how it is mounted but, my question is this: is it a relatively easy thing to replace or should I go ahead with installation at the RV dealership? From what I did see, it looked like the biggest issue would be making sure the wires are re-connected in the correct loactions.

Gunner "From what I did see, it looked like the biggest issue would be making sure the wires are re-connected in the correct locations."Yeah. However, when I replaced the motor in my '86 -in 1994- I had a mechanical problem which I THINK was: the squirrel cage had to be removed before anything would come out and there was something henky about that. The cage on one side of a divider, the motor on the other side?? I hate to be vague, but there was something out of the ordinary about the setup; take a close look inside. And the motor came out from the outside opening, not with the plenum which stayed inside the coach.
And don't bend the sail switch.

towerguyHey Gunner,
They mentioned something about the squirrel cage and since I don't know what a sail switch is, this sounds like an appointment that is best kept. Thanks!

olroyI pulled one furnace, & decided the hassle factor was too great to try to replace the motor. Too much tin in the way, too many components that didn't look like they would come apart easily, & go back together naturally. I let the pros do it.

Jim and TereI had a similar problem in my 28'1985 Regal. Every time I turned it on, it screamed for a while. So, since it looked complicated, and the weather got warmer, I just sort of intentionally forgot about it. Then, two weeks ago, during a short trip to the Smokies, we turned the furnace on and guess what? Quiet as a mouse. There's nothing like benign neglect!!
