I've been giving this a lot of thought and trying to decide which way to go.
Any thoughts on the Fast F.I.?
Any down side other then it's cost ? Pros or cons? Would Gear Vendors be a better investment? Eventually I would like to have both, but can only afford one before I go cross Country.

I have not heard much on the Fast system. I installed a system from Affordable Fuel Injection. It works very well. I especially recommend it for high altitudes where carburetors really suck. The 454 ran well over 6,000 ft no problems. With the carb it would barely run above 5,000.

My writeup is here

I have followed your thread Steve on your F.I. and it sounds like a great way to go. Did you notice any difference between your stock motor and H.O. motor? Did you have to change any of the parameters for the new motor? I wold be concerned trying to use a stock system from a later model 460 with my motor, I am sure it could be done With a lot of laptop tweeting something that I am not so efficient at.

I like the idea of the self learning feature of the FAST, but is it fact or just marketing?

Good questions. I expected the stock system would need some changing for the HO engine. So far, too early to tell, but it started and ran well with the new engine so far. The timing is still too retarded to be optimum but once I get it there I will know for sure. It will never make full power with single exhaust and 2 barrel TBI but I only need it at 3500 rpm and below so I don't care.

So far the O2 numbers and BLM tables look pretty normal. When the timing is correct I will do the final evaluation. If power is good, throttle response is good and uniform, no surging, etc I will leave the chip alone. If not I can email the data tables to the guy at AFI and he will do another chip if I need it.

I would bet a stock FI system would work on your rig with minor tweaking at most. FI starts and runs really well and does high altitudes with no problems.

I will have to look at the Fast system. good luck

Bill N Y has TBI on his 460, and I think it's stock.

I paid much less for the system form Affordable Fuel Injection, around $1200 complete, including fuel pump and distributor.

I'm not sure they do systems for Ford engines. I'll get back to you.
