Aluminum roof on my Barth
Aluminum roof on my Barth
The roof on my Barth appears to be a solid aluminum sheet. I was of the impression that the Barths had a coated / painted roof. Did someone replace/ upgrade this at some point.?
Should I coat this or just maintain where there are small patches of coating covering the attachment points.
Looks to be in good condition. There was a minor leak in one corner at the rear, otherwise the interior is perfect.

RustyA coating is a Good Thing. Something like Kool-Seal will make a real difference in the summer sun. Surface prep is the key, although most products have a pretty good adhesion. My coach has a rubber coating on top of the aluminum, and it's still intact.

Amen. I was on top painting the roof of a trailer. It had been silver, and I was applying white Kool Something. My wife was inside, and was shocked when she came outside and saw the sun still shining. It got so cool inside, she thought the sky had clouded over.

I am curious if the aluminum roof is original or was added later over the original coated roof.
I think the white coating would help cool off here in Florida and will add that to my project list...

RustyMost likely original. IIRC, there was one Barth that had a diamond-tread overlay for use as a skybox.

I know of one, a 32 Regency near Yakima?

Tom and JulieMy 1993 32 foot Regency has the diamond plate roof. It is 1/4" thick aluminum in a single sheet. Original owner from Illinois had it done at the Barth factory. It appears to have been bonded to the original aluminum roof, there are no visible screws or bolts, just good sealant at the edges. Just love not worrying about leaks.
