Freddie and I took our first trip up north into U.P. Michigan and around the western coast of the lower peninsula. The total trip was was around 1000 miles. The drive train did its job and we got 9.5 miles per gallon of gas when we kept the speeds around 55 mph. It went down to 8 when we drove 65 mph, which seemed to be a good top speed for a vehicle that was built to drive 55.

That is not to say we didn't have problems. A water leak plague us whenever we camped and hooked up the city water. I put new plumbing throughout the whole unit, but I knew the hot water tank leaked, so I shut the input and output valves off and we went without hot water. Still, water slowly filled under the cabinets and the kitchen floor was constantly getting wet. At a campground in Indian River, MI I realized that the old washered valves must be leaking, letting water into the HW tank and causing the wetness, so the owner of the campground graciously sold me some pex line and sharkbites to by-pass HW tank and Bingo! the water leak was solved.
However, now I have no hot water. I am looking for an alternative to the usual RV HW tank. Has anyone switched over to a tankless/instant water heater?
