Please help! 1974 Pwer Converter/Charger
The original 1974 Power converter/battery charger only works when it wants to? It is very sensitive to the touch? if I tap on the top or side (very gently) it turns the lights on and off? its not the fuses vibrating and making a connection, it's inside. I poked around inside and could not find a short? its only when I tap on the unit? should I replace it? if so I would like to keep it simple, maybe swap for another original? any suggestions? Confused

ALSO: Brandon and I took her for a joy ride tonight and at a stop sign the entire coach lost power and shut down? then 30 sec. later there was power and I was able to turn the key and start her? It happened again in the driveway when we got home so I just let it sit "as is" and 20 or 30 seconds later the headlights and everything came on? Any ideas?

It sounds like two separate issues.

35 years is a long time for a converter; the type you have is probably a dual output - one section to power coach 12VDC, a second to charge the batteries. Modern converters charge the batteries, which power the coach 12VDC. A replacement will require some primitive rewiring.

The second issue sounds like the relay for the 12VDC chassis battery to power the chassis (engine, dash, etc.)
