The coil on my Onan 6.5 generator is bad.
(Primary is measuring about 1.2 meg ohms)
I found this upgrade and wanted to know if anyone else has experience with upgrading their coils on the gensets.
Thanks in advance.

My experience has been that a low-performance engine either runs or it doesn't.

The only possible advantage of a hotter spark would be possibly better starting, although the hot spark might just be compensating for another condition that was sub par.

I know some sharp engine builders who use a stock Delco points coil on very high power supercharged engines, because a GMC blower takes up too much real estate to use an HEI. I have been bested in river racing by many a boat with a stock coil and points distributor.
