While I was out installing the new backup camera, I started hearing a static on two of the Radio speakers. It was one on each side, the second ones back from the front. The radio was turned off, the ignition was off. The only way I could get the static to stop was turn off the battery master switch inside the door.

Anybody ran into this before or have any ideas?

Thanks,
Nick

The only way the static could occur is if the noise is induced. The electronic ignitors for the HW heater, reefer, and furnace are possible culprits. Were any of these turned on at the time?

That noise, if you can single out one of the ignitors, could signal a bad board, and if the HW heater, could narrow down the issue with it (or at least one of the issues...)

Hey Nick! On my close cousin to your Regency the backup camera also has a microphone so your helper, or screaming cat can warn you when backing up. Check the monitor and see if the volume control is turned up.

Tom, I thought about that since I had just installed the new camera. unplugged the power to the backup system and still had the static. Still Looking.

Is that a feature (microphone) that was added after 1990?

Duh! I just remembered, the 12VDC fluorescent lights also have a high-frequency electronic circuit (which is supposed to be shielded) which could also cause induced static.
