Electric steps
1989 Barth 22 Foot Regal. Can I stop my electric automatic steps from coming out when I open the door? There's an on/off switch to your left when you enter the coach and it tests good. That switch in either position how no effect. That step prevents you from parking close to a curb.
I wonder if there's an override switch somewhere that I'm unaware of ?

There is no override switch that I am aware of. Could you make one. Absolutely. I have never had an issue with curbs. BUT I seldom park near curbs but when I did it did not interfere with the step operation. My clearance on all mine may be higher than yours.

The switch only keeps it from retracing when parked. The ignition overrides it to retract when started. So you can’t drive with it out! (I still listen for mine to retract!). Ask those who have ripped one off how important that is.

Hope my opinion is helpful. The only stupid questions are ones not asked.

Yeah that makes sense now what that switch is for. Actually the curb isn't really my main problem with the step, I have a free standing homemade step we like better (it's higher). I think I'll add about an inch to that step and about 3 inches to the first inside step...it's kind of a high step up to the main floor.
Thank you for your answer.

I had the same problem with step inconsistency. A plasma cutter and welder will fix steps in a few days. I originally had a single step and a portable step also. Here is my solution.
