Kwikee Steps
Forgive me, for I have sinned. I responded to a step query within a solenoid thread.

In the interest of helping those who surf or search by title, here are the offending posts under the proper thread title:

Kwikee steps like good battery voltage and clean connections. Dont forget the ground.
They also like to be cleaned and lubed. I like spray brake cleaner, followed by Dri Slide, which leaves a dry film of molybdenum disulfide. Motorcycle chain lube is good, too.
Here is a link to the Kwikee site:

If you remove the clevis pin from the actuating arm, you can move the steps in and out by hand. This helps when cleaning and lubing. Some may be so rusty or gummed that they need penetrating oil and lots of movement to really free them up. They can also be tied up in the event of a failure.

I am often tempted to eliminate the automatic feature, and wire in a switch. Some models want a DPDT (CO) momentary switch, while others want an SPDT (CO).

An alarm switch that would alert me when the ignition was on and the step not retracted would be nice, too.

(edited to remove inadvertent off-topic comment)
