Odd one and not sure what to check next. I started up the Air because it was finally warm in Minnesnowta. Ran about 3 minutes and then -dead? The lights on the thermostat remained on. The breaker seems untripped. The in-line fuse is okay. When I removed it the therostat went dead. Give me a direction to head. Are there any fuses or breakers in the unit anywhere??

Is the thermostat located on the shroud or the wall? If the former, the ribbon cable from the CB to the unit is notoriously fragile; I had to resolder all the CB junctions on mine.

A/C units are designed with self-resetting breakers that trip on overheat caused by low freon or a dirty condenser. The Penguin is nice in that the design isn't prone to crud in the coils. The roof shroud has to be removed to clean the condenser.

It is a wall mounted themostat. I removed and kept it powered and moved all the wires and wiggled and jiggled to see if anything would jump to life. Any other ideas. If it is not 40 mph wind tonight I will climb up and pull the shroud and see what I can see up there.

There should be a separate 120 VAC breaker for the A/C. That should be checked - to see it's not tripped (to reset, turn off, then on). Once "on" check the output at the breaker to make sure there's power.

Some outside units have a reset button, but they're rare on later ones.

Check the roof unit condenser coils for crud (Penguins stay much cleaner than other designs) and clean with compressed air or spray cleaner and water (from a hose, not a pressure washer) if necessary.

Many RV A/Cs are sealed, and can't be charged without special equipment, so if it's low on freon, it may be time to replace.

Rusty,
I checked the breaker and used the multimeter to verify I was getting the 125 on the down side to air. I had run and got cool a couple weeks ago when I was messing around. I think the freon is fine. Something somewhere is missing power. I wil;l pull the shroud and check it out underneath. I figure there must be a 110 connection up there thats shorted detached, burnt. Thanks for the directions.

I had a similar issue with my 93 Regency. The AC would stop when I walked too hard or bumped the wall. I orginally thought that the thermostat was bad. This situation would cause the unit to shut down and then immediately start up again. At times this created what amounted to a "stalled rotor" situation and would sometimes trip the breaker. The unit was original and it finally quit outright one day. I replaced the unit with a new Penquin and at the time of connecting the 120 VAC it was okay. After finishing installation the AC would not run. I retested the voltage and none was present between the hot and neutral. However, between hot and ground there was 120 VAC. For some reason the neutral conductor had an intermitent open. I now don't know if the old unit was really bad or not. I had to install a new run of romex to get the unit working.

I don't know if this helps but that was my experience.
