There are six worn Grass HS-100 spring-loaded hinges in the coach. I searched and searched...told the company stopped making them or went out of business. My favorite hardware supplier said he'd never seen a hinge like that and gave me instructions for radical surgery to use something else.

Stroke of luck...parked next to a Born Free class C coach in Florida...proud owner wanted to show me interior...there was the hinge. So I looked up the Born Free website...and...wallah...

Just learned that they are not Grass so I will post my experience using them. BTW the Born Free coach has the Barth spirit...real wood, limited production, cost a bloody fortune new...

Shipping free with PayPal and they have great customer service.

Aha, Born Free units are built in my hometown of Humboldt, Iowa! If I ever give up my Blue Dolphin Barth, Born Free would be my choice. I hope to ogle a few of them after Labor Day when I go back to Humboldt for a reunion.

Great Find! !
Am looking forward to hearing if these work and are of good quality-- please let us know (so we all too can buy-- have at least 4 that are in poor shape-- one repaired (using the term "repaired" very loosely) with small nuts and bolts.
Thank for your find!

Here's the HS 100 hinge outcome:

Original and replacement...

Cabinet door with old hinges and new...

Both doors with new hinges open...

Both doors with new hinges closed...

They look nice, they work fine, it makes a big difference. The Born Free folk are easy to work with, ship fast, and have other items Barth coaches can use.

Oh yeah...I ordered the nickel finish because I liked it better. They have three finishes. Some screw holes aligned, some didn't. Easy install.

Miscounted just a bit...there are actually 14 of these in the coach...good grief...The Born Free guy thinks I don't know how to count. He would be right about that...

Just placed an order with Born Free for HS-100N hinges. There is a note that they are being discontinued. I ordered 8 (4 sets) and tried for 10 but would not allow.

I did find some more on the net. Make sure you look for HS-100N to get results. One of the sources said they had 75 available.

Did anyone try any of the hinges from RV Locks and more dotcom? h - hs 100 -sn is there desination for a satin nickle hinge. They are $3.99 each. Big price difference. Added numbers and letters to avoid patent infringement?? To good to be true?? Put spaces and spelling differences to not bring this into a search correctly if this hinge is junk. Did anyone try these?
