The power step will not retract when you close the door and it is notlocked.

Can't find the fuse panel or anything in the manual.

any suggestions?

I'm not the owner of the coach

Does it retract when the engine is started? If so, your door switch has been turned to the "stay out" position. If not, yeah, you have a problem.

First things:

Is the battery voltage up?

Are all connections clean, especially the ground?

Is the step mechanism undamaged, clean and lubed?

Try pushing in on the door switch and releasing it so it snaps out violently. This might clean the internal contacts.

Does the step go up when the door is closed and the ignition is turned on? How about after the engine is started? Does running the genset help things?

Check and report back for more complicated information and blind alleys. Do you have a meter or test light and a set of test leads? What number is on the control box? What color is it?

My "solution" was posted in the original query; gremlins, apparently.

Our step does not always retract when the door is closed, but will when the coach is started. We found that by the button in the door jam (switch) is sticky. I can twist and push the button to get it to work so I know ours is the button. This is with the switch in side the coach in the position to allow the step to retract.
