TurbodocBedroom Area Lighting
I've blown the 12V fuse for the bedroom area lighting. I can't find a short and have 13.9V power to the panel on that lug only. All the other fuses are fine and not registering any voltage. Any suggestions?

My dad who was an electrician had a trick for troubleshooting shorts. Get a 12 volt bulb in a socket with two alligator clips on it. attach the clips to the fuse sockets. If it glows brightly, you have a short. Disconnect each item on the circuit until your light glows dully. Hope it works for yo¨.

RustyDo the other lights work? When you say you have 13.9V on that lug, how did you take the measurement? If you measured across the fuse lugs and got 13.9V, as Rick noted, you have a short.
If this is how you got the reading, next remove the light and disconnect the leads, and see if you get that voltage reading across the fuse lugs; if so, the wires are shorted. If not, the ballast has probably shorted, and can be replaced.

TurbodocThanks for the great replies. I'm in the Panhandle of Florida right now. Stopping for a week in Lakeland tomorrow, then I can work on it.

TurbodocTip Tech of the day. I tracked down a local MAC tool rep. in Winter Haven and purchase the FF310 Fault Finder. When I got back to the coach I found the short in about 15 seconds. In my case the short was located in the drivers side wall and I just ran a new wire from fuse box to fixtures and everything is now working fine. Thank you to everyone for their advice.
