overhearing lights
Yesterday, while doing extensive work on the Barth, we ran the generator for some time, to power up one of the a/c's. We also had a couple of the lights on. These are 12 volt lights that can run on the batteries I think. Problem is that the one over the kitchen sink got so hot, it make the entire light, the base and everything, so hot that you couldn't touch it. Today, I'll check the others since they're all the same. Each of them has 3 light bulbs in them and I'm worried that they might get hot enough to start a fire. Should we not use them when hooked up to shore power or while running on the generator?

I wonder if the bulbs are the correct wattage? I would compare the others.

Hey! I figured out with the help of you folks, what the problem was. All of the 12 volt lights for the rectangular fixtures in the coach are 1141's, produce about 17 watts. Someone had put 1156's in the fixture over the kitchen sink, probably for some extra light, but the produce about 26 watts, almost 50% more heat. They looked exactly the same. Might be worth while to leave the lights on for a while and see if they're overheating. The overheated light was so hot you couldn't touch it for several minutes after I turned it off.
