Anybody have a Genny that runs in warm weather but in colder weather it starts and runs for 10 seconds and dies?

Danny ZIs the choke auto or manual?

RustyIt's almost assuredly auto. Anyway, pull the air filter and squirt some carb cleaner onto the choke shafts.
Disconnect the choke operating rod and work the choke by hand, reconnect and try it again.
If it runs OK, add a can of Seafoam or Techron fuel system cleaner.
Of course, this is assuming you have a gaso genset; you didn't say...

Since then I got it to run in warm (55) temp but I had to put oil in it to do so there must be a protection device, but now at 35degrees it doesn't start to begin with.
