Wiper motor Question
Hope it doesnt offend anyone by asking this here but, I have a 1979 GMC Astro and noticed the info stating the windshield was used on the Barth Coaches. My question is this, What type of wiper system is used? Are the left and right independant of each other and are they air or electric operated?

Any info and or pics would be GREATLY app.

Here's what's in my 81 Euro. Electric and not so great. I have some replacements but I haven't got around to putting them in yet. Seperate controls.

It's been a few years since I've worked on this style tractor trailer. From what I can remember of them, they were usually air operated and were independent with 2 air controls. Some were electric and I believe those were set up the same way too.

Remembering back to a road call for one of these trucks, I kind of remember removing a passengers side wiper motor and installing it in the drivers side because of a failure.

Here's a few pictures of these trucks with the wipers arms in 2 different positions.

That is a problem I still have to deal with. Mine are independant and electric. Make sure if you replace one to have the exact same number or you will have two independantly funtioning wipers that look like they have a mind of their own head bang At least tyhey both shut off at ther same time so that I can position them in the middle of the windshield on shut down.

When I got my Breakaway, the passenger side wiper was stored at the middle position and the driver side was stored at the left edge of the windshield, The pantograph mechanisms were identical side to side instead of mirror image as they should have been!

I changed the linkage so that both wipers now are stored at the middle of the windshield. some time in the future, I will have to replace the bearings and levers as they are getting loose and sloppy in their movement. At that time I will replace the drivers side pantograph with the correct version.
