chuckdBattery lay out ?s
On my Class C, there is a start battery located on the passengers side of the engine, hooked up to starter etc. On the passenger side of the engine is a spot for another battery. It has a cable running over to the other start battery (hot) and also another hot cable running back to the empty house battery location. These are connected at the non existent passenger side battery location with a plastic fixture of some kind, purpose unknown.
House battery location has the usual hot and ground connectors, plus the extra hot battery cable from the passenger side battery.
Any thoughts on what I have and how it should work?

RustyThis sounds like the usual configuration for a diesel
i. e., 2x12V batts in parallel, in a van. The "extra" space can be filled by another battery, but for a gaso engine, not essential.
The extra hot lead probably goes to the paralleling relay, which connects the house batt for starting.

DoormanMy C is set up the same way.The pass. side is chassis bat, the driver side is coach bat. It is an option on my build list. Barth then made room for two more coach battery behind step. There should be a relay between the two for isolation.
